Meet Marco

Mr. Marco Diez is a passionate educator with over 15 years of teaching experience and a deep understanding of using technology effectively to engage all learners. He holds an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from FIU. As Executive Director for Instructional Technology, he provides leadership across the many areas supported by the iLearn Team, including instructional technology, professional learning, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, robotics, coding, and innovative district initiatives. He works closely with the team to guide priorities, support implementation across schools, foster collaboration, and create opportunities for educators and students to use technology in meaningful and innovative ways.

Meet Jeannette

Jeannette Tejeda, Ed.D., is an educator and instructional technology leader with more than 30 years of experience working with diverse student populations. She holds an Ed.D. in Urban Leadership and a Master’s in Elementary and Bilingual Education. As the iLearn Team Lead, she supports innovative instructional technology initiatives and helps lead the district’s AI Institute, with a strong emphasis on the ethical, responsible, and purposeful use of artificial intelligence in education. Dr. Tejeda is the author of Differentiation With AI, published by ISTE and ASCD, and regularly presents at conferences and professional learning events on artificial intelligence, instructional technology, differentiation, and emerging educational practices. She also serves as an adjunct professor, bringing her experience in K–12 education, professional learning, and instructional innovation to future and practicing educators.

Meet Anabel

Anabel Basualdo is a dedicated educator with over a decade of experience, specializing in STEM and instructional technology. She holds degrees in anthropology and microbiology from the University of Florida. Her passion for science evolved into a deep interest in AI and machine learning, which now fuels her drive for innovative solutions in education. She also holds a master’s degree in data science from UC Berkeley. Anabel is committed to transforming education through technology. She is especially passionate about creating opportunities for underrepresented students and fostering inclusive learning environments where all students can excel. Anabel’s unwavering dedication to empowering others and her expertise in instructional technology have made her an innovator in the educational landscape.

Martha Basulto has 34 years of experience in the classroom. A dedicated, creative, enthusiastic educator who loves helping others and is always willing to go the extra mile. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood with a Leadership Track. She now serves as an Information Technology Liaison for the Instructional Technology Department. She is passionate about fostering education, championing innovation, and helping students and educators grow.

Mayra Ortega is a passionate educator with 11 years of experience in Dade County Public Schools. She has a bachelor’s in Elementary Education K-6 with an ESOL certificate and a Master’s in Reading. She is passionate about learning, using, and creating innovative solutions that help her students grow and learn. She is a dedicated educator who cares for students’ well-being and academic success.

Meet Jacayla

Jacayla Toson has 18 years of experience as an educator, she stands out as a passionate advocate for quality education. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Mathematics, Jacayla has been committed to fostering equitable and enriching learning experiences throughout her career. Transitioning from the classroom, she dedicated 3.5 years to the role of a Math Coach and now serves as a Curriculum Support Specialist for the iLearn team.

Meet Robert

Robert Trigo has been an educator at MDCPS since the 1999-2000 school year. He holds a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Miami, a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Digital Teaching and Learning Focus of Study from American College of Education, and was a National Board Certified Teacher from 2003-2013. Robert enjoys helping others in realizing their full potential, and challenges students to think outside the box. He has taught several subjects including Music, Computer Science, and Math and holds a variety of industry certifications including Coding, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Robotics, and Instructional Technology. His hope is that every student at Miami-Dade County Public Schools enjoys a safe, mentally challenging, and exciting educational experience.

Zenaida (Zeny) Ulloa, a veteran educator with over two decades of experience in M-DCPS, specializes in student-centered teaching methods that effectively integrate technology and academic curriculum. She actively promotes innovation and shares her expertise in augmented reality at prominent national conferences such as FETC.

The AI Institute is a cohort based professional learning experience that helps M-DCPS educators build practical AI knowledge, skills, and confidence.

Participants explore district approved AI tools while examining ethical use, privacy, bias, academic integrity, and responsible decision making.

Coding and Robotics

iBot BOLT gives elementary students hands-on opportunities to explore coding, robotics, computational thinking, and engineering.

Early Coding Through Exploration

iBot indi introduces young learners to foundational coding and computational thinking through hands-on, screen-free exploration.

Students create pathways, arrange sequences, recognize patterns, predict outcomes, and adjust their ideas based on indi's response.

Additional Professional Learning

The iLearn Team provides a variety of professional learning opportunities throughout the year to support educators as they explore instructional technology, digital tools, robotics, coding, and emerging technologies. Sessions may be offered virtually or in person and are frequently available during district professional development days.

Professional learning may also be customized for administrators, departments, specialized programs, individual schools, and feeder patterns based on instructional needs. These opportunities allow the iLearn Team to respond to specific school and district priorities while providing practical strategies, resources, and support that educators can apply directly to their professional practice.
